Join us at The Yale Club on June 19 for an enlightening evening as we delve into the intertwined history of New Haven, Yale, and slavery. Presented by the creators of the “Yale and Slavery: A History” project, this event will showcase an exhibition that illuminates the essential role of enslaved and free Black individuals in shaping both the community of New Haven and the legacy of Yale University.
From archival images to insightful discussions, attendees will explore the stories of early Black writers, women leaders, and over 220 early Black Yale students whose legacies have often been overlooked. With a brief reception at 6:30 pm followed by the presentation at 7 pm, “Shining Light on Truth” offers a platform to honor untold narratives, celebrate resilience, and foster dialogue on the complexities of our shared history. Join us as we shine a light on truth and embark on a journey of understanding.
