So tonight I went to Jazzy’s and I discovered an Artist that blew me away.

Kaeli Roselle is her name and her mother was at the door. That’s the kind of family affair we’re talking about. Kaeli first entered my soundscape when I went to Jazzy’s tonight just looking for a nice people vibe. I asked Jason what was happening and he told me about her event as well as the private gathering by the bar.

He said my best bet would be to sit at the bar, which I did. But, of course, once I heard her voice, I got curious. It reminded me a little bit of mine. Grand like a piano, with body, with roundness. Expansiveness. A sound that fills you.

But she also goes really high and soft which is where I just fall into the music. She reminds of my girl Desiree when she does that. Like that watery, whispery, high voice that lets you come on to it like a pillow. A sound for rest.

So when she first came on, I thought her voice was strong like mine and it was a reminder that I needed to get into the studio. I thought, well, if I’m saying I need to make music, isn’t this the scene I need to pay attention to? Aren’t these the people I need to be around?

I can’t remember which song it was, but it was a combination of her sound and the vibe where she was giving flowers to those who have supported her, these were what made me leave the bar to peek over to her side of Jazzy’s.

Then her mother was like, “Uh uh, private event.”

I’m like, “Can I get a ticket though?”

I knew this was her mother from the vibe with which she told me I better pay if I want to experience her daughter. Which is just the right type of energy that every Artist needs around them.

It was confirmed for me when I heard Kaeli on the mic saying, “this is for my mother,” and Shanta, her mother, shimmied in the Spirit. She said something then that confirmed that indeed this was her child in whom she was well pleased.

Well Kaeli’s sound was just medicinal. It was soothing. It was strengthening. It was energizing. It made me want to hone in on where to hear dope music as such locally. Then Shanta (Kaeli’s mother) told me about Thelma’s in Bridgeport. More to come on that.

I was thinking, of course, the whole time, about how the music industry is in an upheaval, which is unearthing the truest undercover music scene that exists. There is pure music being made, and the industry forces that controlled diddler are the same that have kept this pure music from you.

Cruelty-Free Music

“Cruelty-free music” is a term I first heard in an interview with Jaguar Wright. She said that if consumers were to insist, for instance, that all music we hear is cruelty-free, that 99% of the music out there (that we hear) would be eliminated.

So then the question arises: what music would we listen to if the industry wasn’t tying up our attention?

I do believe that 99% of the music existing in the world indeed is cruelty free. The question is just whether or not you or I would ever get to hear it. So many of us are making music and keeping it to ourselves.

A lot of us are protecting this music from the forces that live for exploiting Artists.

Well, I’m grateful that Kaeli did not just keep her music to herself. I’m grateful that I get to enjoy the kind of music she’s serving. I have so much more to say on the subject, but for now listen to her on IG or on all your streaming platforms.

I have favorited her in TIDAL as of now. I do have some footage from the show tonight that I would love to share with you all if Kaeli wants that.

The voice note I recorded earlier about it is here.
